The 47% by Chris Piascik

At a fundraising event over the summer Romney had some things to say about 47% of Americans… “There are 47 percent who are with [Obama], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it,” Romney told the donor. “They will vote for this president no matter what. These are people who pay no income tax. My job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” This event was closed to the public and he was under the impression that it was not being recorded in any way. On top of him being factually wrong, he just sounds like a jerk. It’s incredibly frustrating to listen to him complain about a family of four, earning less than $26k, not paying enough taxes while he paid a lower tax rate than the most middle-class Americans. On top of that, under Ryan’s budget Romney wouldn’t pay any taxes! So tell me this, who is the bigger mooch; a poor family, or a multi-millionaire not paying any taxes?
